Sunshine days again

Over 100km’s of jogging done in 1st month – the results are in!

Well…the results aren’t too impressive, unfortunately! On New Year’s Day, the scales showed I was 12 stone on the nose. One month on, with over 100km’s of jogging done and averaging one swim a week (doing around 30 lengths each time), my weight is exactly the same. A quick Google search to understand this lack of progress indicates that sleep, stress and diet are some things that could be affecting results.

Although I don’t eat a lot of junk food, I do feel I could be more structured in my diet. I could eat more fruit and vegetables and make sure to have a structured schedule by having breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. I’ve recently started eating the odd salad, which is a step in the right direction. If I could also start preparing meals in advance for the week ahead on Sunday, this could help further.

room for optimism

Although I do have to take the result on board, I’m not overly worried by this lack of progress on the scales. I’m already at a relatively healthy weight based on the BMI result I got using the NHS calculator online:

My body mass index

I have this blog up and running now to help keep me motivated and in the back of my mind I’m starting to form goals. I also have the Southampton marathon 2 months from now, which gives me good reason to try to get some long runs in. Even though I only broke even on the scales, I also have other tests of progress, which I’m looking forward to seeing the results of. I’ll be doing my next running aerobic test in mid February. I’m hopeful of seeing an improvement on the January test (whereby my aerobic pace came in at 6 minutes 45 seconds/km).
